Condenser or Evaporator Plate Heat Exchangers

The SonFlow Condenser and Evaporator Plate Heat Exchangers are designed to condense or evaporate low-pressure vapour that have high volumes. The unit is ideal for the food, sugar, biogas, pulp and paper, mining, petrochemical, chemical and alcohol industries.

Features of SonFlow Condenser and Evaporator Plate Heat Exchangers.

  • Handling of duties where there is a large temperature or flow difference between the hot and cold side.
  • Has a smaller footprint when compared to tubular condensers and evaporators.
  • Can work effectively even when the operating temperatures are close together.
  • Especially developed plate pattern for condensing/evaporation of low-pressure vapour.
  • Gives a high thermal transfer / efficiency per plate.
  • Reduced risk of coolant side fouling due to the turbulence throughout the cooling water circuit.
  • Reduced pressure drops / back pressures due to minimal restrictions and a short pathway through the vapour channels.
  • Optimised effective area available to the vapour.
  • Vapour connections can be as much as DN1000.
  • No dead spots throughout the plate channels means very effective results when subjected to cleaning in place.
  • Can accept working pressures up to and including 6 bar g.
  • Both the vapour and the service side circuits can be opened and accessed for inspection and cleaning if necessary (no welded channels).
  • The plate design enables an adjustment of the total capacity to meet changing needs/future demands. This is achieved by simply adding or removing plates, while retaining the existing frame. This is a major advantage when compared to a tubular heat exchanger type, where the capacity is fixed at the level decided on at the time of installation.

Condensing

The asymmetrical design ensures optimal condensation conditions, with a large inlet for vapour and a smaller in- and outlet for cooling water and condensate.
